A friend of mine asked me if I recognized the name Tom Dilley. Nope!

Looking at some things he had saved from many years ago, my friend wrote:

-----I came across a pristine copy of 'The Californian' cover dated Winter, 1936. It contains a seven-page 'Literary Review' from Lovecraft where he is end-titled as 'Member of N.A.P.A Bureau of Critics'(!) and the original appearance of 'The Night Ocean' by Robert Barlow. ...there is one name written in small letters in ink at the bottom of the table of contents: 'Tom Dilley'.-----

I wondered if anyone here could shed some light. Was Dilley an "amateur" at the same time as Lovecraft was involved? For that matter, isn't 1936 late for Lovecraft to be involved with amateur journalism?

No, his interest in the hobby was renewed toward the end. Of course, he had always been more of a UAPA guy, but his faction of the UAPA died in the late 20s, IIRC, and he belonged to the NAPA as well, so...
