Hi,

Is there anybody here who has read "The Lady Of Frozen Death", a short story collection by Leonard Cline, the author of "The Dark Chamber" (1927)? I would like to know if it is worth reading.

I edited this collection. The stories are not up to the high standard of The Dark Chamber, but they are passably entertaining. Cline wrote most of them while in jail, having pleaded guilty to manslaughter. He was trying to earn money to pay the one thousand dollar fine that went along with his sentence of a year in jail. When I originally edited the collection in 1992, I didn't have all of the published versions of the stories--the texts came from typescripts he had retained. I have in the works an expanded edition which includes the published versions, so one can see how the texts were altered by the pulp editors.
