Dear ULA
Thanks for bringing this to our attention --

Interesting read, though i would fuss at some of his assessments (charnel God, Black Abbott etc -) and I would certainly have mentioned that Xeethra was one of two stories read by Bradbury that inspired him to become a writer at age 10.

"Xeethra?" I know Bradbury acknowledged "The City of the Singing Flame" and "The Master of the Asteroid" as being instrumental in his decision to become a writer, but don't recall him ever acknowledging any of the Zothique stories--which isn't to say that "Xeethra" isn't one of Smith's masterpieces, because it is. Do you remember where you learned this tidbit?

Best,
Scott

Came off the top of my head, but recall reading something of his where he specifically mentioned it - it sticks in my memory because it is one of my favorites as well - I'll dig a bit and see if I can find it - It is not out of the realm of possibility that those of us in the Aricept generation could, in fact, be faulty in memory.
