Wouldn't it be disappointing if there was a mundane explanation, like a pile of dumped ballast that someone pointed out?

Since the Sea of Galilee (ancient Chinnereth) is completely below sea level - this is clearly a phenomenon that will require considerable help from the Geology department - my guess is that whatever it is could go back as far or farther than Gobekli-Tepi - and, for a side note, no ships ever sailed that sea that carried significant ballast - all were smaller than 30 feet by 15 - (earlier ambitious modifications of the Coracle)

There is so much weird ancient stuff out there, waiting to be discovered. Submerged structures have also been reported beneath Lake Titicaca, beneath Rock Lake in Wisconsin, and off the coast of Okinawa. The island of Malta supposedly has fossilized wheel-cart ruts running off the land into the Mediterranean, perhaps dating from the era when the Mediterranean was still just a valley, and the "Straits of Gibralter" just an enormous waterfall which hammered the senses.

I read a book a few months ago, Looking for Dilmun by Geoffrey Bibby, which dealt with Danish archeological expeditions in Bahrain and other Arabian islands, searching for the legendary Sumerian land of "Dilmun". Bibby told of exploring an ancient-looking mound on one of the Arabian islands (I forget which one) ---at which point he was instantly surrounded by angry Muslims bearing guns. Turned out that the mound -around which the city was built- was located within the women's quarter of the city, where the females took their baths, and thus off-limits to all men. Bibby eventually, after much wrangling, arranged to be given ONE HOUR to visually search the site: at which time they found shards of four-thousand year old pottery lying everywhere along the ground, untouched for ages. Bibby managed to sneak a single photograph of little girls watching curiously as they looked around (he'd have been shot if authorities knew he'd taken the picture!) As far as I know, this site is still unexplored by science.

Mt. Judi (Judi Dagh) in Iran which is identified in several sources, principally those regarding Sennacherib,
is similarly off-limits - it is the only site which has extra-biblical references as "the" site of the "Ark" of Noah (Gilgamesh etc, ad infin.)
