A few days ago I read a short story by CAS called "Phoenix" and was shocked by the similarity between this short piece of literature and the plot of a sci-fi movie called "Sunshine" which are, in fact, one and the same. The creators of the film simply stole Smith's "Phoenix" without admitting or even saing so ... At least I have found no mention about it ...

Well---no. The central premise is similar; otherwise there is no connection. (Rereading the story, I am also struck by how peculiar Smith's understanding of the nature of the sun is.)
