Have you read Poe's Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym -- which influenced Lovecraft's writing of AMM?

If you are up for a true narrative about the polar realm, Apsley Cherry-Garrard's The Worst Journey in the World might please, or Alabanov's In the Land of White Death, or even Lansing's Endurance.

Or Eicher's Dead Mountain: The Untold Story of the Dyatlov Pass Incident.

Thanks. Of course, I have read "Narrative of Arthur Gordon Pym" (which, to be honest, does not remind me of "The Mountains", though there is the strange call "teke-li-li"). The rest of the stories you mentioned I do not know at all so I am going to look them up to know what they are about.

By the way, The mystery of the Dyatlov Expedition has been solved, once and for all, hasn´t it? So I am curious what Eicher has to say about it in his book. :-)
