Thanks, I appreciate the offer, and the response (I didn't get one from my e-mail to Night Shade). Not sure I need the bonus paperback; I was more interested in "locking in" my order at the reduced price. Just venting, I guess, sorry. I'll have to suffer through buying them from Amazon.com one-by-one (but for around the same $150 :).
BTW, Scott, just finished reading Red World of Polaris from NSB (liked your introduction) and began Star Changes yesterday. Keep up the good work!

I've had problems with Night Shade too. I tried two or three times to pre-order the CA Smith set when it was first announced, but for some reason the order wouldn't go through (I order plenty of books and other things online successfully, so I don't think it was me). I also emailed Jason a couple of times and even called (Night Shade was in Portland Oregon then, where I live) and never got a response. Very frustrating. Finally I just decided to order it through Amazon, which at least never lets me down. I'm not sure what the problem is at Night Shade but I think they do have a problem with customer service and being responsive. Just me $.02.
I appreciate your kind words about the intros to RWoP and Star Changes.
Regarding Night Shade Books being somewhat unresponsive to individual orders: that is because they actually want you to order the books from Amazon or, preferably, a brick-and-mortar store. Their business model is based upon selling to distributors and chains, and everytime someone orders one of their titles, or (even better) special orders it at Borders or Barnes and Nobles, that brings them more attention from the buyers at the store, so they order more titles. It works pretty well for them, especially since they went to Diamond for distribution; previously Baker and Taylor and Ingrams paid small presses pretty much when they felt like it, which could be over a year when it was due. Agree with it or not, that's their story and they're stickin' to it!
May you all enjoy a festive Yuletide. Time for me to do my annual re-reading of HPL's "The Festival."
Best,
Scott

Good to know. I had thought the opposite, that they would get more money per sale if I bought directly from them. But if it helps Night Shade then I will buy from a store in the future.
Huggie Bear don't know nothin', but the Word on the Street is that the first Night Shade CAS ships the first week of January, and that's the end of that story!

That is great news! Just re-checked my mailbox... Not there yet.
Keep checking. I picked up ARCs on Saturday. The wait is almost over.
On other news: we're due to turn in volume 2 to the publisher early next month.
And it appears that there is some movement on the long-delayed Averoigne Chronicles from Donald M. Grant.
This is great news! I'd like to get my copy from Amazon as they are cheap, but they note "Availability: Usually ships within 1 to 3 months". Ouch. I'm hoping this will be changed when they actually get copies in hand... though they seem to have copies in hand. Hmm.
Don't know if the bonus book will be ready at the same time or not. But if it isn't ready to ship with the preorders, it will be ready soon after (of course, I use "soon" in the geological sense of the word....)
I subscribed to the CAS collection from the beginning, but in the mean time I've moved to a new appartment, trying desperately now to change my address of the subscription:(
I tried to reply to the mail which confirmed my subscription long time ago, but got no reply; I tried asking in the Nightshade Forum and only got the reply that the first book is done and will be shipped soon, but still not how I could change my address.
Dear Mr. Scott Connors, is there any chance you could help me out here?
