Hello,

I have just discovered this website and it looks fantastic. I have only recently discovered CAS and have immersed myself in his works (I was lucky enough to pick up a set of all his Arkham titles excluding Spells & Philtres at a bargin price).

I came upon CAS via re-reading Lovecraft. I have just really started upon this type of story after spending years almost exhausting the classic ghost story.

I was also interested to know if anyone on this list lives in Vancouver BC and can suggest any relevant book shops in the area as I will moving from London, UK to Vancouver this August.

I look forward to reading and contributing to this group.

Cheers

Richard

Delighted to have you on board, and congrats on finding S and P at a good price (less than several hundred is good). My wife and I have relatives both in Vancouver and on the Island - Nanaimo and Courtenay. Dan't know any stores in Vancouver, but the recommended publishers of the newer stuff, Hippocampus Press and Night Shade, are the place to go - easily found online. Check ebay also as they usually have at least a page of CAS items. After recording the CDs, I shall probably make the copies given to me and signed by Clark himself available at an obscenly high price - unless my son talks me out of them. You are in for a real treat. There is available a kind of lexicography for reading Smith on this site I think, which Ron Hilger put together (again, to best of my recollection). You may find this useful. Be sure to indulge yourself in his poetry: recommended setting-
a dark and stormy night, a dwindling fire in the fireplace, easy chair, fine glass of Sherry (Harvey's Bristol Cream will do), feet up, faithful dog by the fire, cat somewhere of arch disposition appropriately ignoring you, and a copy of Star-Treader etc. handy by.
Enjoy
Dr. Farmer

Excellent move! I'm flying over to stay with a cousin on Vancouver Island this may, and certainly intend to visit Thompson Rare Books on Hornby Island. This guy also seems worth a visit.

I've been bookhunting in Vancouver. There's a specialist sci-fi shop and some second-hand shops worth checking out, including a comic store I never made it to. But Hornby Island looks like the place for CAS / Weird Tales fans (great scenery, too).

Hello,

Thank you for these links and suggestions. Hornby Island looks really beautiful, I will defiantly visit.

As mentioned on my first post I recently picked up all the CAS Arkham titles in a lot up to 'Other Dimensions' and I am slowly working my way through his work.

Just finished 'Out of Space and Time'. The description of premature burial in The Second Interment was one of the most terrifying I have ever read.

My question is after I have exhausted the Arkhams are there any other major works or stories that are missing?.

Thank you

Richard
