Collecting

I have to admit I collect, but I am uncomfortable with copies which have a high monetary value. I used to sell the fancy edition or give it to some institution and buy the cheaper reprint. Soon enough, that cheaper reprint becomes an item to collect. I gave up - though I still give to libraries when I feel the item is approptiate - and just keep the editions, all of them read or thumbed through, which have a monetary value. The real value is liking what is written.

In this you are surely correct - I approve - as to original editions by CAS, I am not collecting, I am keeping what he gave me in person and signed - but most importantly, of all the authors I have read, it is to Clark and a few others that I return again and again, and find myself enriched.
