I really hope you are right. The Averoigne stories should have been collected a long time ago, & I am really sorry that Lin Carter could not assemble them for the Ballantine Adult Fantasy Series. Oh, well. The anticipation will make the reward that much greater when the book finally does appear.
On a sort-of related topic, I had an e-mail from Fergie, the Shipping Shoggoth, at Chaosium, informing me that their Call of Cthulhu fiction line plans to have THE TERROR AND OTHER TALES (their third Arthur Machen collection, edited by S. T. Joshi) and THE TSATHOGGUA CYCLE out by the end of the year, and they are furthest along on preparing THE KLARKASH-TON CYCLE for publication than any of the other titles they have announced (THE TINDALOS CYCLE, THE YIG CYCLE, CELAENO FRAGMENTS, THE EXHAM CYCLE, etc.) I'm looking forward to that one almost as much as THE AVEROIGNE CHRONICLES.
