Encroaching Darkness

The trailer for the latest Thor movie has an interesting conceit; the idea that the darkness which existed before the creation of the universe still exists in a malevolent form. The images of this encroaching darkness look very eerie.

It reminds one of the solid shadow of approaching-darkness in CAS's story "The Ice Demon".
