Clark Aston Smith's little fantasy "doodles" as they're called, this one possibly an illustration for H.P Lovecraft stories. It's in crayon and pencil, 4" x 3.5" subtlely colored and signed "CAS" bottom right. It has been double matted and custom framed to 12" x 11". The date is unknown, but it's an early one and probably from the 40s; it was acquired originally from dealer Gerry de la Ree in 1975, who handled the CAS estate for a while and sold several of these to various buyers.
