Polestar

Phillip A. Ellis

You are my polestar, you are the axis of my life.

In these Arctic waters, the ice hangs heavily from rigging and railing. How the ice threatens me, how it longs to grind my vessel to splintered reeds of wood and debris! But I sail on, ever northwards, past the realms of star-demons, and spirits of auroral fire (so cold is their flame that it blisters even steel and stone).

Yea, I sail on ever northwards, ever enamoured of your beauty. For I feel my destiny upon me, and it is to be with you, and to worship you, my empress. For I am your slave, desirous to be your lover and your beloved.
