I mentioned Kanopy out of any context earlier, then considered that while I mentioned it in passing, I needed to explain what it is, in case any readers here were not already familiar with it.

It is a free service for those who hold library cards for libraries on Kanopy's distribution list. In the USA, this includes most public library systems in urban areas, college libraries, etc. The access varies per library system, allowing you to watch a given number of films per month. Here in Portland, OR, there are at least two overlapping county library systems (Multnomah and Washington) and combined I can see up to 20 films per mo, free.

Once signed up, you access Kanopy thru a smart TV or a Roku-like box; it appears as a Roku channel, e.g. It is kinda like a Criterion-Lite channel.

It's where I saw those Nordic supernatural/catastrophe films I mentioned in another thread.
