Hello,

Does anybody know about Cthulhu Mythos stories from the golden age of pulp magazines (say, from 1920 to 1945) that were not written by Lovecraft, Smith or Howard?

I'd say quite a few, and shall name some shortly. But What's the definitiion of a "Cthulhu Mythos Story"?

"The Space Easters" (1928), by Frank Belknap Long
"The Hounds of Tindalos" (1929), by Frank Belknap Long
"The Thing that Walked on Wind" (1933), by August Derleth
"The Shambler from the Stars" (1935), by Robert Bloch
"Far Below" (1939), by R.B. Johnson
"Beyond the Threshold" (1941), by August Derleth
"The Trail of Cthulhu" (1944), by August Derleth

The titles blow are cheating, since we know today they were really by Lovecraft. But at the time they must have helped popularize the idea that more than one person could write lovecraft-themed stories:

"The Curse of Yig" (1928), by Zealia Bishop
"The Last Test" (1928), by Adolphe de Castro
"The Electric Executioner" (1930), by Adolphe de Castro
"Medusa's Coil" (1930), by Zealia Bishop
"The Man of Stone" (1932), by Hazel Heald
"The Horror in the Museum" (1933), by Hazel Heald
"The Mound" (1940), by Zealia Bishop

"Easters" = "eaters";
"blow" = "below".

Sorry for the typos

"The Brood of Bubastis" (1937), by Robert Bloch. However the only Mythos element specifically mentioned is Ludwig Prinn's "Mysteries of the Worm", which is also Bloch's own invention. It arguably draws some inspiration from "Imprisoned with the Pharaohs" by Harry Houdini, which Bloch may have known was really HPL's work, since they corresponded. However, "Imprisoned with the Pharaohs" is not usually counted as a "Mythos" story.

"The Creeper in the Crypt" (1937), by Robert Bloch, is set in Arkham, and alludes to "the Carter house" as well as to the events of "The Dreams in the Witch House".

Henry Kuttner wrote a few before 1940, I think. But I am not very familiar with them.

Kuttner's mythos-related stories:
"Bells of Horror", "Hydra" and "The Invaders" (all 1939), "The Salem Horror" (1937). Hugh B. Cave also wrote two stories using Cthulhu Mythos motifs:
"The Isle of Dark Magic" & "The Death Watch" (1934 and 1939). All in WEIRD TALES.
