While out today, I stopped at my local B&N. Lo, on the new SF shelves were copies of THE RETURN OF THE SORCERER (Prime Books, 2009) with an intro by Gene Wolfe and the collection edited by Robert Weinberg. There is overlap and duplication with A RENDEZVOUS IN AVEROIGNE (Arkham House, 2003, but it has some tales I do want to have handy that aren't in the AH volume.

The original, more graphic ending version of "The Return of the Sorcerer" is better than the standard version instigated by Lovecraft's criticism. Does the book you mention include "The Double Shadow," which was stupidly excluded from [i]A Rendezvous in Averoigne? Wolfe's introduction is the happening thing there-- worth picking up for that alone isn't it?

Yes, it has "The Double Shadow."
