Dark Inheritance

Eric C. Bauch

The cloven hoofed beasts,
Bow down and feast,
In spectral light divine.

Daemon eyes alight,
With necronomic might,
Fear and Hate entwine.

The treasures of the ages,
And the crystal stones of sages,
Shine with age-old flame.

Thieves, cut-throats and liars,
Who dared to touch the gemstone fire,
Now dwell with the insane.

Halls of greenish stone enshroud,
The ravaged bones of the proud,
Eaten by relentless Time.

Dust covered mummies in sub-terrain vaults,
Preserved in baths of primrose and salts,
And alabaster layers of lime.

Golden treasures heaped and piled,
Through endless seasons harsh and mild.
Hidden from the Elemental reign.

Bearing black sorcery's curse
None would touch the fabled purse.
Ever in fear of the dark-wrought bane.
