On page 299 of vol. 2 of Nightshade's Collected Fantasies of Clark Ashton Smith is the following: "He [Scott Connors] is currently working on a biography of Smith."
Research is 99% complete, and I have written portions of it. It seemed to me that it made more sense to get CAS back into print in a decent edition than to write a bio of somebody that wasn't being read any more. I expect to start writing it in earnest once two current projects (one of them the former "bonus booklet" from NSB, now a full-fledged hardcover).

I ache for this book, Scott. I believe you told me, at HPLFF or perhaps WFC, that your book will be a critical biography, perhaps similar to Rosemary Ashton's book on Coleridge. That pleases me extremely, because I love how such books concentrate on critical assessment of an artist's Work. I know your health has delayed the book alarmingly, but I hope that you've been able to make some progress. Miss running into you, but I can no longer attend HPLFF or cons because of the situation with me mum.
